'Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Salm informed us, he said: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, he said: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, from al-Zuhri, from Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, from Hadrat Abu Hurayrah, who said: A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, I am ruined." He said: «What is that?» He said: "I had intercourse with my wife on a day in the month of Ramadan." He said: «Free a slave." He said: "I cannot find one." He said: «Fast for two consecutive months." He said: "I cannot." He said: «Then feed sixty poor people." He said: "I cannot find the means." He said: The Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was brought a basket, and he said: «Take it and give it in charity." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, to other than my family? By the One in Whose hand is my soul, there is no one between the two boundaries of Madinah poorer than me." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) laughed until his canine teeth became visible, then said: «Take it and seek your Lord's forgiveness.»
