Hadrat Aisha (may Allah be well pleased with her) narrated: The sun eclipsed, so the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) commanded a man who called out: 'The prayer is about to begin.' The people gathered, and the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) led them in prayer. He said the takbir, then recited a long recitation. Then he said the takbir and performed a long bowing similar to his standing or longer. Then he raised his head, and the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: «Allah hears the one who praises Him.» Then he recited a long recitation that was shorter than the first standing. Then he said the takbir and performed a long bowing, and it was shorter than the first bowing. Then he raised his head and stated: «Allah hears the one who praises Him.» Then he said the takbir and prostrated a long prostration, and it was shorter than his bowing or longer. Then he said the takbir and raised his head. Then he said the takbir and prostrated. Then he said the takbir and stood. He recited a long recitation that was shorter than the first recitation. Then he said the takbir and performed a long bowing that was shorter than the first bowing. Then he raised his head and stated: «Allah hears the one who praises Him.» Then he recited a long recitation that was shorter than the first recitation in the second standing. Then he said the takbir and performed a long bowing less than the first bowing. Then he said the takbir and raised his head and stated: «Allah hears the one who praises Him.» Then he said the takbir and prostrated shorter than his first prostration. Then he raised his head, then recited the tashahhud, then gave the salam. He stood among them, praised Allah and extolled Him, then stated: «Indeed, the sun and the moon do not eclipse for the death of anyone nor for their life, but they are two signs from among the signs of Allah. So if either or both of them are eclipsed, hasten to Allah and to prayer.»

حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت ہے: سورج کو گرہن لگا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ایک آدمی کو حکم دیا جس نے پکارا: 'نماز جامع ہے۔' لوگ جمع ہو گئے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان کی امامت کی۔ آپ نے تکبیر کہی، پھر لمبی قراءت کی۔ پھر تکبیر کہی اور اپنے قیام کے برابر یا اس سے زیادہ لمبا رکوع کیا۔ پھر سر اٹھایا اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «سمع اللہ لمن حمدہ۔» پھر لمبی قراءت کی جو پہلے قیام سے کم تھی۔ پھر تکبیر کہی اور لمبا رکوع کیا اور یہ پہلے رکوع سے کم تھا۔ پھر سر اٹھایا اور فرمایا: «سمع اللہ لمن حمدہ۔» پھر تکبیر کہی اور لمبا سجدہ کیا اور یہ ان کے رکوع سے کم یا زیادہ تھا۔ پھر تکبیر کہی اور سر اٹھایا۔ پھر تکبیر کہی اور سجدہ کیا۔ پھر تکبیر کہی اور کھڑے ہوئے۔ لمبی قراءت کی جو پہلی قراءت سے کم تھی۔ پھر تکبیر کہی اور لمبا رکوع کیا جو پہلے رکوع سے کم تھا۔ پھر سر اٹھایا اور فرمایا: «سمع اللہ لمن حمدہ۔» پھر لمبی قراءت کی جو دوسرے قیام میں پہلی قراءت سے کم تھی۔ پھر تکبیر کہی اور پہلے رکوع سے کم لمبا رکوع کیا۔ پھر تکبیر کہی اور سر اٹھایا اور فرمایا: «سمع اللہ لمن حمدہ۔» پھر تکبیر کہی اور اپنے پہلے سجدے سے کم سجدہ کیا۔ پھر سر اٹھایا، پھر تشہد پڑھا، پھر سلام پھیرا۔ آپ ان میں کھڑے ہوئے اور اللہ کی حمد و ثنا بیان کی، پھر ارشاد فرمایا: «بے شک سورج اور چاند کسی کی موت یا زندگی کے لیے نہیں گرہن ہوتے بلکہ یہ اللہ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں۔ پس اگر ان میں سے کسی کو یا دونوں کو گرہن لگے تو اللہ کی طرف اور نماز کی طرف دوڑو۔»
