Hadrat Itban ibn Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him), who was among the Companions of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and had participated in the Battle of Badr, came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, my eyesight has weakened, and I lead my people in prayer. When it rains, the valley between me and them floods, and I cannot reach their mosque to lead them. I wish that you, O Messenger of Allah, would come and pray in my house so that I may take it as a place of prayer." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "I shall do so." Hadrat Itban said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came with Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be well pleased with him) in the morning when the day had risen. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sought permission and I granted it. He did not sit until he entered the house, then said: "Where would you like me to pray in your house?" I pointed to a corner of the house. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stood and said the takbir, and we stood behind him. He prayed two rak'ahs then gave the salam. We kept him for a stew we had prepared for him. Men from the neighborhood gathered until there was a good number in the house. One of them said: "Where is Malik ibn al-Dukhshun?" Some said: "He is a hypocrite who does not love Allah and His Messenger." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not say that about him. Do you not see that he has said La ilaha ill-Allah, seeking thereby the Face of Allah?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best; we only see his face and his counsel directed toward the hypocrites." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Indeed, Allah has forbidden the Fire for whoever says La ilaha ill-Allah, seeking thereby the Face of Allah."

حضرت عتبان بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ، جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے صحابی تھے اور غزوہ بدر میں شامل انصار میں سے تھے، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! میری بینائی کمزور ہو گئی ہے اور میں اپنی قوم کو نماز پڑھاتا ہوں۔ جب بارش ہوتی ہے تو میرے اور ان کے درمیان کی وادی میں سیلاب آ جاتا ہے اور میں ان کی مسجد تک نہیں پہنچ سکتا۔ یا رسول اللہ! میری خواہش ہے کہ آپ تشریف لائیں اور میرے گھر میں نماز پڑھیں تاکہ میں اسے نماز کی جگہ بنا لوں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «میں ایسا کروں گا۔» حضرت عتبان نے فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم صبح حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے ساتھ تشریف لائے جب دن چڑھ گیا تھا۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اجازت مانگی، میں نے اجازت دی۔ آپ بیٹھے بغیر گھر میں داخل ہوئے اور فرمایا: «تم اپنے گھر میں کہاں چاہتے ہو کہ میں نماز پڑھوں؟» میں نے گھر کے ایک کونے کی طرف اشارہ کیا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے کھڑے ہو کر تکبیر کہی اور ہم آپ کے پیچھے کھڑے ہوئے۔ آپ نے دو رکعت نماز پڑھائی پھر سلام پھیرا۔ ہم نے آپ کو ایک شوربے پر روکا جو ہم نے آپ کے لیے تیار کیا تھا۔ محلے کے لوگ جمع ہو گئے یہاں تک کہ گھر میں کافی تعداد ہو گئی۔ ان میں سے ایک نے کہا: مالک بن الدخشن کہاں ہے؟ بعض نے کہا: وہ تو منافق ہے، اللہ اور اس کے رسول سے محبت نہیں رکھتا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «اس کے بارے میں ایسا نہ کہو۔ کیا تم نہیں دیکھتے کہ اس نے لا الٰہ الا اللہ کہا ہے اس سے اللہ کی رضا چاہتے ہوئے؟» لوگوں نے کہا: اللہ اور اس کے رسول بہتر جانتے ہیں، ہم تو اس کا رخ اور مشورہ منافقوں کی طرف دیکھتے ہیں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: «بے شک اللہ تعالیٰ نے آگ حرام کر دی ہے اس شخص پر جس نے لا الٰہ الا اللہ کہا اس سے اللہ کی رضا چاہتے ہوئے۔»
