Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan al-Bazzaz informed us in Makkah at the Sacred Mosque, saying: Ali ibn al-Madini narrated to us, saying: Sufyan ibn Uyaynah narrated to us from Mis'ar ibn Kidam from Wa'il ibn Hujar, who said: 'I said: I will certainly observe the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) how he prays. So he stood and faced the qiblah and raised his hands until they were level with his ears, then he placed his right hand on his left hand, wrist, and forearm. When he wanted to bow, he raised them likewise. When he raised his head from bowing, he raised them likewise. When he prostrated, he placed his face between his hands. When he sat, he placed his left foot under him and put his left hand on his left thigh and knee, and he placed the end of his right elbow on his right thigh, and made two of his fingers into a ring, and I saw him making a circle with them, and raising his forefinger, supplicating with it.' Sufyan said: It was this forefinger, the one adjacent to the thumb.'
