Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Aishah (may Allah be well pleased with her) narrated: A woman from the people of Dumat al-Jandal came to me; she had come seeking the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) shortly after his passing, to ask him about something she had entered into from the matter of sorcerers, though she had not acted upon it. Hadrat Aishah (may Allah be well pleased with her) said to Urwah: O son of my sister, I saw her weeping when she could not find the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) to cure her, to the point that I pitied her. She was saying: I fear that I may have been ruined. I had a husband who was absent from me, and an old woman came to me, and I complained to her. She said: If you do what I tell you, perhaps he will come to you. When night fell, she brought me two black dogs; I rode one and she rode the other. Before long, we stopped at Babel, and there I saw two men hanging by their feet. They said: What has brought you? I said: I want to learn sorcery. They said: We are but a trial, so do not disbelieve and go back. I refused and said: No. They said: Go to that oven and urinate in it. I went but was afraid and did not do it. I returned to them and they asked: Did you do it? I said: Yes. They said: Did you see anything? I said: I saw nothing. They said: You did not do it. Go back to your land and do not disbelieve. I refused. They said: Go to that oven and urinate in it. I went and my skin shivered and I was afraid, then I returned. They asked: What did you see? I said: I saw nothing. They said: You are lying; you did not do it. Go back to your land and do not disbelieve, for you are still at the beginning of your affair. I refused. They said: Go to that oven and urinate in it. I went and urinated in it, and I saw an armoured horseman come out from me and ascend to the sky until he disappeared. I came to them and said: I have done it. They asked: What did you see? I said: I saw an armoured horseman come out from me and go up to the sky. They said: You speak the truth. That was your faith that left you. Go. I said to the woman: By Allah, I know nothing, and they did not tell me anything. They said: Indeed, whatever you desire shall come to be. Take this wheat and sow it. So I sowed it and said: Sprout! And it sprouted. I said: Grow ears! And it grew ears. I said: Ripen! And it ripened. I said: Dry! And it dried. I said: Grind! And it ground. I said: Bake! And it baked. When I saw that whatever I wished happened, I was dismayed and regretted. By Allah, O Mother of the Believers, I have never done anything with it nor ever will. She then asked the Companions of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) shortly after his passing, while they were numerous at that time, but they did not know what to say to her. All of them feared to issue a ruling on something they did not know, except that they said: Had your parents been alive, or one of them, they would have been sufficient for you.

اُمّ المؤمنین حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ دومۃ الجندل سے ایک عورت میرے پاس آئی۔ وہ محبوب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی وفات کے فوراً بعد آپ کی تلاش میں آئی تھی تاکہ ان سے کسی ایسے معاملے کے بارے میں پوچھے جو اس نے جادوگروں سے متعلق کیا تھا مگر اس پر عمل نہیں کیا تھا۔ حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے عروہ سے فرمایا: اے میرے بھانجے! میں نے اسے روتے دیکھا جب اسے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نہ ملے جو اسے شفا دیتے، حتیٰ کہ مجھے اس پر رحم آیا۔ وہ کہہ رہی تھی: مجھے ڈر ہے کہ کہیں میں ہلاک نہ ہو گئی ہوں۔ میرا شوہر مجھ سے دور تھا، ایک بڑھیا آئی اور میں نے اسے اپنا حال بتایا۔ اس نے کہا: اگر تم میرا کہنا مانو تو شاید وہ تمہارے پاس آ جائے۔ جب رات ہوئی تو وہ دو کالے کتے لائی، میں ایک پر سوار ہوئی اور وہ دوسرے پر۔ دیر نہ لگی کہ ہم بابل میں رکے۔ وہاں دو آدمی الٹے لٹکے ہوئے تھے۔ انہوں نے پوچھا: تم کیوں آئی ہو؟ میں نے کہا: جادو سیکھنے۔ انہوں نے کہا: ہم تو آزمائش ہیں، کفر نہ کرو اور واپس جاؤ۔ میں نے انکار کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا: اس تندور کے پاس جاؤ اور اس میں پیشاب کرو۔ میں گئی لیکن ڈر گئی اور نہیں کیا۔ واپس آئی تو پوچھا: کیا کر دیا؟ میں نے کہا: ہاں۔ پوچھا: کچھ دیکھا؟ میں نے کہا: نہیں۔ کہا: تم نے نہیں کیا، واپس جاؤ اور کفر نہ کرو۔ میں نے انکار کیا۔ پھر کہا: جاؤ تندور میں پیشاب کرو۔ میں گئی، میری کھال کانپ اٹھی اور میں ڈر گئی، واپس آئی۔ پوچھا: کیا دیکھا؟ کہا: کچھ نہیں۔ کہا: جھوٹ بولتی ہو، واپس جاؤ اور کفر نہ کرو۔ میں نے پھر انکار کیا۔ کہا: جاؤ تندور میں پیشاب کرو۔ میں گئی اور پیشاب کیا تو دیکھا کہ ایک لوہے کی زرہ پہنے گھوڑ سوار مجھ سے نکلا اور آسمان میں چلا گیا اور غائب ہو گیا۔ میں ان کے پاس آئی اور کہا: میں نے کر دیا۔ پوچھا: کیا دیکھا؟ میں نے کہا: ایک زرہ پوش گھوڑ سوار مجھ سے نکلا اور آسمان میں چلا گیا۔ کہا: تم نے سچ کہا، یہ تمہارا ایمان تھا جو تم سے نکل گیا۔ جاؤ۔ میں نے عورت سے کہا: اللہ کی قسم مجھے کچھ نہیں معلوم اور انہوں نے مجھے کچھ نہیں بتایا۔ انہوں نے کہا: جو چاہو وہ ہو جائے گا۔ یہ گندم لو اور بو دو۔ میں نے بویا اور کہا: اگو، تو اگ آیا۔ کہا: بالیں نکالو، تو بالیں نکلیں۔ کہا: پکو، تو پک گیا۔ کہا: سوکھو، تو سوکھ گیا۔ کہا: پسو، تو پس گیا۔ کہا: روٹی بنو، تو روٹی بن گئی۔ جب میں نے دیکھا کہ جو چاہوں ہو جاتا ہے تو میرے ہاتھ سے نکل گیا اور پچھتاوا ہوا۔ اللہ کی قسم اے اُمّ المؤمنین! میں نے کبھی کچھ نہیں کیا اور نہ کبھی کروں گی۔ اس نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے صحابہ سے آپ کی وفات کے فوراً بعد پوچھا اور وہ اس وقت بہت تھے، لیکن کسی کو معلوم نہ تھا کہ اسے کیا کہیں۔ سب ڈرے کہ بے علمی سے فتویٰ نہ دیں، مگر انہوں نے کہا: اگر تمہارے والدین زندہ ہوتے یا ان میں سے کوئی ایک تو وہ تمہارے لیے کافی ہوتے۔
