Narrated Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): Three men came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to inquire about his (peace be upon him) worship. When it was described to them, they considered his worship to be little (that is, they regarded it as too little and insufficient for themselves). Then they said, "What comparison are we to the Prophet (peace be upon him)? All his (peace be upon him) former and latter sins have been forgiven." One said, "As for me, I will pray all night long." The second said, "I will fast perpetually." The third said, "I will not marry (that is) I will stay away from women." Meanwhile the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came and said, "Are you the ones who said such-and-such things? Listen! I am the most fearful of Allah among you and the most careful of you in observing the rights of Allah, yet I fast and I also break my fast, and I pray (at night) and I also sleep, and I marry women. (Beware!) Whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not of me."
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہنبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی بیویوں کے گھروں میں تین آدمی آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی عبادت کا حال پوچھنے آئے۔ جب ان سے بیان کیا تو انھوں نے آپ کی عبادت بہت کم خیال کی (یعنی اپنے لیے اسے کم اور ناکافی سمجھا)۔ پھر انھوں نے کہا ہمیں نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے کیا نسبت؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے تو اگلے پچھلے سب گناہ معاف کر دیے گئے ہیں۔ ایک نے کہا کہ میں تو رات بھر نماز پڑھا کروں گا۔ دوسرے نے کہا کہ میں ہمیشہ روزے رکھتا رہوں گا۔ تیسرے نے کہا کہ میں نکاح نہیں کروں گا (یعنی) عورتوں سے الگ رہوں گا۔ اتنے میں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمتشریف لائے اور فرمایا:”کیا تم لوگوں نے ایسی ایسی بات کہی ہے؟ سن لو! میں تم سب سے زیادہ اللہ سے ڈرنے والا اور تم سب سے زیادہ حقوق اللہ کی نگہداشت کرنے والا ہوں مگر میں روزہ رکھتا بھی ہوں اور چھوڑتا بھی ہوں اور (رات کو) نماز پڑھتا بھی ہوں اور سوتا بھی ہوں اور عورتوں سے نکاح بھی کرتا ہوں (خبردار!) جو میری سنت سے منہ پھیرے گا وہ مجھ سے نہیں۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1828]
