Hadrat 'Ali ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Hisham ibn Hujayr, from Tawus, who heard Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) say: Sulayman (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: Tonight I shall certainly go to ninety women, each of whom will bear a boy who will fight in the path of Allah. His companion — Sufyan said, meaning the angel — said: Say 'In sha' Allah' (if Allah wills). But he forgot and did not say it. Then he went to all of them, yet none of them bore a child except one who bore half a child. Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated it in a raised form (marfu') and said: (The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, stated) "Had he said 'In sha' Allah,' he would not have broken his oath, and it would have been a means to fulfill his need." And on another occasion he said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Had he made the exception (by saying 'In sha' Allah')." And Abu al-Zinad related from al-A'raj a narration similar to that of Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him).

ہم سے علی بن عبداللہ نے بیان کیا، ہم سے سفیان نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے ہشام بن حجیر سے، انہوں نے طاوس سے، انہوں نے حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے سنا، انہوں نے فرمایا: حضرت سلیمان علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: آج رات میں ضرور نوّے عورتوں کے پاس جاؤں گا، ہر ایک ایک بیٹا جنے گی جو اللہ کی راہ میں لڑے گا۔ ان کے ساتھی نے — سفیان نے کہا: یعنی فرشتے نے — کہا: کہیے ان شاء اللہ۔ مگر وہ بھول گئے اور کہنا بھی نہیں کہا۔ پھر ان سب عورتوں کے پاس گئے تو ان میں سے کسی نے بھی بچہ نہ جنا سوائے ایک کے جس نے آدھا بچہ جنا۔ حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے اسے مرفوعاً بیان کیا اور فرمایا: (رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا) "اگر انہوں نے ان شاء اللہ کہا ہوتا تو قسم نہ ٹوٹتی اور ان کی حاجت پوری ہو جاتی۔" اور ایک مرتبہ فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "اگر انہوں نے استثناء کر لیا ہوتا (ان شاء اللہ کہہ لیا ہوتا)۔" اور ابوالزناد نے اعرج سے حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کی حدیث کی مثل بیان کیا۔
