أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرِ بْنُ قَتَادَةَ أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ السَّرَّاجُ ثنا مُطَيَّنٌ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَرِيفٍ ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَتَاكَ الْمُصَدِّقُ فَأَعْطِهِ صَدَقَتَكَ فَإِنِ اعْتَدَى عَلَيْكَ فَوَلِّهِ ظَهْرَكَ وَلَا تَلْعَنْهُ وَقُلِ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَحْتَسِبُ عِنْدَكَ مَا أَخَذَ مِنِّي وَفِي هَذَا كَالدِّلَالَةِ عَلَى أنَّهُ رَأَى الصَّبْرَ عَلَى تَعَدِّيهِمْ وَكَذَلِكَ فِي حَدِيثِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيكٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ خَلُّوا بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ مَا يَبْتَغُونَ فَإِنْ عَدَلُوا فَلِأَنْفُسِهِمْ وَإِنْ ظَلَمُوا فَعَلَيْهَا وَقَدْ مَضَى فِي بَابِ الِاخْتِيَارِ فِي دَفْعِ الصَّدَقَةِ إِلَى الْوَالِي وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَارٌ كَثِيرَةٌ فِي الصَّبْرِ عَلَى ظُلْمِ الْوُلَاةِ وَذَلِكَ مَحْمُولٌ عَلَى أنَّهُ أُمِرَ بِالصَّبْرِ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا عَلِمَ أنَّهُ لَا يَلْحَقُهُ غَوْثٌ وَأَنَّ مَنْ وَلَّاهُ لَا يَقْبِضُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ فَإِذَا كَانَ يُمْكِنُهُ الدَّفْعُ أَوْ كَانَ يَرْجُو غَوْثًا

Abu Nasr ibn Qatada informed us: Abu al-Hasan Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Sarraj narrated to us: Mutayyan narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Tarif narrated to us: Hafs ibn Ghiyath narrated from Asim, from Abu Uthman, from Abu Hurayra who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'When the charity collector comes to you, give him your charity. If he transgresses against you, turn your back to him and do not curse him, and say: O Allah, I seek Your reward for what he has taken from me.' In this is an indication that he considered patience with their transgressions appropriate. Similarly, in the hadith of Jabir ibn Atik from the Prophet (peace be upon him): 'Leave them and what they seek. If they act justly, it is for their own benefit. If they oppress, it is upon themselves.' This has already been mentioned in the chapter on the preference of paying charity to the governor. Many reports from the Prophet (peace be upon him) about patience with the oppression of rulers have been narrated, and that is understood to mean patience when one knows no help will come and that the one in charge will not restrain the oppressor.
