أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ ثنا السَّرِيُّ بْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ثنا وُهَيْبٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحُرْفِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ثنا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ الْهِلَالِيِّ قَالَ كَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ أَطَالَ فِيهِمَا الْقِيَامَ قَالَ وَانْجَلَتْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّمَا الْآيَاتُ تَخْوِيفًا يُخَوِّفُ اللهُ بِهَا عِبَادَهُ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَصَلُّوا كَأَحْدَثِ صَلَاةٍ صَلَّيْتُمُوهَا مِنَ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ وَلَيْسَ فِي رِوَايَةِ وُهَيْبٍ تَخْوِيفًا وَزَادَ فِي أَوَّلِهِ فَخَرَجَ فَزِعًا يَجُرُّ ثَوْبَهُ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَهَذَا أَيْضًا لَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ أَبُو قِلَابَةَ عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ إِنَّمَا

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated to us... from Qabisah al-Hilali who said: The sun eclipsed during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him). He prayed with them two units of prayer in which he prolonged the standing. When it cleared, the Prophet said: 'These signs are only sent as a means of frightening. Allah frightens His servants with them. When you see that, pray like the most recent obligatory prayer you prayed.' This is the wording of Abd al-Warith's hadith.
