وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ أنبأ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ أَطِيلُوا هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ وَأَقْصِرُوا هَذِهِ الْخُطْبَةَ يَعْنِي صَلَاةَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَرُوِيَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ عَنْ عَمَّارٍ مَرْفُوعًا مُخْتَصَرًا

Abu 'Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us... from Abu 'Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ya'qub... from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab... from Ja'far ibn 'Awn... from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid, from Qays ibn Abi Hazim, from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud who said: 'Make the prayer long and make the sermon short' - meaning the Friday prayer. It was also reported from 'Ammar in marfu' form (attributed to the Prophet), in an abridged version.
