Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz and Abu Sa'id ibn Abi Amr informed us, they said: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, Usayd ibn Asim narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn Hafs narrated to us. Sufyan said: Simak ibn Harb narrated to us from Qabisah ibn Hulb from his father who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) would turn sometimes to his right and sometimes to his left, and he would place one hand on the other. Al-Shafi'i said: If he has no need in a particular direction and may face whichever way he likes, I prefer that he turn to his right, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) love of doing things from the right, without it being strict in any of that. The Shaykh said: The report of Aisha about the Prophet's (peace be upon him) preference for the right in all his affairs has already been mentioned.
