أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أنبأ شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعْدٍ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ الزَّاهِدُ إِمْلَاءً وَأَبُو صَالِحِ بْنُ أَبِي طَاهِرٍ قِرَاءَةً أنبأ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ يَحْيَى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا أَبُو الْفَضْلِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مِهْرَانَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ رَأَى نُخَامَةً أَوْ بُزَاقًا فِي الْقِبْلَةِ فَقُمْتُ فَنَحَّيْتُهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُ رَجُلٌ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فَيَبْزُقَ أَوْ يَتَنَخَّعَ فِي وَجْهِهِ؟ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَبْزُقْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلَكِنْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ وَإِلَّا بَزَقَ فِي ثَوْبِهِ فَدَلَّكَهُ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ غُنْدَرٍ

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Abdullah informed us, Shababah ibn Sawwar narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us. And Abu Sa'd Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Uthman al-Zahid narrated to us by dictation and Abu Salih ibn Abi Tahir by reading, Yahya ibn Mansur al-Qadi informed us, Ahmad ibn Salama narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Bashshar al-Abdi narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us. He said: I heard al-Qasim ibn Mihran narrating from Abu Rafi' from Abu Hurayrah from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he saw mucus — or spit — on the qiblah wall. I stood up and removed it. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Would any one of you like a man to come and spit or expectorate in his face while he is praying? When one of you prays, let him not spit in front of him, nor to his right, but to his left or under his foot. Otherwise, let him spit in his garment and rub it.' This is the wording of Ghundar's hadith.
