أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ (ح) وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَدَّهُ حُرَيْثًا يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَجْعَلْ تِلْقَاءَ وَجْهِهِ شَيْئًا فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَلْيَنْصِبْ عَصًا فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ مَعَهُ عَصًا فَلْيَخْطُطْ خَطًّا ثُمَّ لَا يَضُرُّهُ مَا مَرَّ أَمَامَهُ وَكَذَلِكَ

Abu Ali al-Rudhbari informed us, Muhammad ibn Bakr informed us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us — and Abu al-Hasan al-Muqri informed us, al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed us, Yusuf ibn Ya'qub al-Qadi narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us — Bishr ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Umayyah narrated to us, Abu Amr ibn Muhammad ibn Hurayth narrated to me that he heard his grandfather Hurayth narrating from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'When one of you prays, let him place something in front of his face.
