Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ate food, he would lick his three fingers. He said: 'When a morsel falls from one of you, let him pick it up, remove any dirt from it, and eat it. Do not leave it for Satan.' He also ordered that the dish be wiped clean, saying: 'You do not know in which part of your food the blessing lies.'
