The Shaykh said: What he meant is what Abu al-Husayn ibn Bishran informed us in Baghdad, Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Muhammad al-Misri informed us, Jami' ibn Sawadah narrated to me, Abu Hazim al-Husayn ibn Dinar narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us. And Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdan informed us, Sulayman ibn Ahmad al-Lakhmi informed us, Ibn Abi Maryam informed us, al-Firyabi narrated to us from Sufyan from Abdullah from Muhammad ibn Aqil from Abu Salamah from Aisha or from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with them) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sacrifice two horned, castrated rams. He would begin with one and say: "In the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. O Allah, from You and for You, on behalf of Muhammad and his nation - whoever testified to Your oneness and testified to my conveyance of the message." And he would slaughter the other and say: "In the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. O Allah, from You and for You, on behalf of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad." This is the wording of Ibn Bishran's narration. In Ibn Abdan's narration: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he sacrificed, would buy two fat, horned, salt-and-pepper colored, castrated rams. He would slaughter one on behalf of his nation - whoever testified to him with monotheism and testified to his conveyance of the message - and the other on behalf of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad." Like that.
