حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَثَّ عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ قَالَ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ قَالَ عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ آخَرُ قَالَ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى زَوْجَتِكَ قَالَ عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ آخَرُ قَالَ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى وَلَدِكَ قَالَ عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ آخَرُ قَالَ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى خَادِمِكَ قَالَ عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ آخَرُ قَالَ أَنْتَ أَبْصَرُ.

Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Ibn 'Ajlan, who said: Sa'id narrated to us, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) urged charity. A man said: 'I have a dinar.' He said: 'Give it in charity to yourself.' He said: 'I have another dinar.' He said: 'Give it in charity to your wife.' He said: 'I have another dinar.' He said: 'Give it in charity to your child.' He said: 'I have another dinar.' He said: 'Give it in charity to your servant.' He said: 'I have another dinar.' He said: 'You know best [what to do with it].'
