'Ali ibn Hafs narrated to us, he said: Warqa' narrated to us, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj, from Abu Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Ibrahim did not lie except three times: his saying when he was called to their gods, 'I am ill'; his saying, 'Rather, the biggest of them did it'; and his saying about Sarah, 'She is my sister.' He said: Ibrahim entered a town in which there was a king or a tyrant. It was said: 'Ibrahim entered tonight with one of the most beautiful women.' The king or tyrant sent to him: 'Who is this woman with you?' He said: 'My sister.' He said: 'Send her to me.' So he sent her to him and said to her: 'Do not contradict my words, for I have told him you are my sister. There is no believer on earth other than you and me.' When she entered upon him and he approached her, she began performing ablution and praying, saying: 'O Allah, if You know that I have believed in You and Your Messenger and guarded my chastity except for my husband, then do not give this disbeliever power over me.' He was choked until he kicked with his legs. Abu al-Zinad said: Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated from Abu Hurayrah that she said: 'O Allah, if he dies, it will be said that she killed him.' So he was released. Then he approached her again, and she stood performing ablution and praying and saying: 'O Allah, if You know that I have believed in You and Your Messenger and guarded my chastity except for my husband, then do not give this disbeliever power over me.' He was choked until he kicked with his legs. Abu al-Zinad said: Abu Salamah narrated from Abu Hurayrah that she said: 'O Allah, if he dies, it will be said that she killed him.' He was released, and on the third or fourth time he said: 'You have only sent me a devil! Return her to Ibrahim and give her Hajar (as a servant).' She returned and said to Ibrahim: 'Did you know that Allah the Almighty repelled the plot of the disbeliever and gave us a servant girl?'"
