Hawdhah narrated to us, he said: 'Awf narrated to us, from Khilas - he is Ibn 'Amr al-Hajari, as he thinks - from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said: "Once, among those who came before you, a woman was nursing her child when a proud horseman in fine attire passed by. The woman said: 'O Allah, do not let my son die until I see him like this horseman on a horse like this.' The child left the breast and said: 'O Allah, do not make me like this horseman.' Then he returned to nursing. Then they passed by an Abyssinian or Zanj corpse being dragged. The mother said: 'I seek refuge in Allah for my son from dying the death of this Abyssinian or Zanj woman.' The child left the breast and said: 'O Allah, let me die the death of this Abyssinian or Zanj woman.' His mother said: 'O my son, I asked your Lord to make you like that horseman, and you said: O Allah, do not make me like him. And I asked your Lord not to let you die the death of this Abyssinian or Zanj woman, and you asked your Lord to let you die her death.' The child said: 'You asked your Lord to make me like a man from the people of the Fire. And the Abyssinian or Zanj woman - her people used to curse her, beat her, and oppress her, and she would say: Allah is sufficient for me, Allah is sufficient for me.'"
