Abu Hurayrah narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said: "The example of the miser and the one who gives in charity is like two men wearing coats of iron whose hands are pressed against their collarbones. Whenever the charitable one intends to give in charity, his coat expands until it covers his footsteps. And whenever the miser intends to give, every ring of his coat contracts and clings to the next, tightening upon him." He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: "He tries to expand it, but it does not expand."
