Ibrahim ibn Abi al-Abbas and Husayn ibn Muhammad told us, both said: Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi al-Zinad told us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Abdullah ibn Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi'a, from Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, addressed the people in the year of the Conquest upon the step of the Ka'ba, and among what he said, after praising Allah, was: "O people, every alliance that existed in the pre-Islamic era, Islam has only increased in strength, and there is no [new] alliance in Islam. There is no [further] emigration after the Conquest. The hand of the Muslims is one against whoever else; their bloods are equal in worth; no believer is killed for [killing] a disbeliever; and the blood-money of a disbeliever is like half the blood-money of a Muslim. Indeed, there is no shighar [marriage exchange without dowry] in Islam, no janab, and no jalab; and their zakat is to be collected in their own dwellings. The lowest of the Muslims may grant protection binding upon them all, and the furthest of them upholds it on behalf of the Muslims." Then he came down. And Husayn said that he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
