حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي حَسَّانُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَ أَقْبَلَ أَبُو كَبْشَةَ السَّلُولِيُّ وَنَحْنُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ مَكْحُولٌ وَابْنُ أَبِي زَكَرِيَّا وَأَبُو بَحْرِيَّةَ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ بَلِّغُوا عَنِّي وَلَوْ آيَةً وَحَدِّثُوا عَنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَا حَرَجَ وَمَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنْ النَّارِ.

Abu al-Mughira told us: al-Awza'i told us: Hassan ibn Atiyya told me, who said: Abu Kabsha al-Saluli came forward while we were in the mosque, and Makhul, Ibn Abi Zakariyya, and Abu Bahriyya stood up to him. He said: I heard Abdullah ibn Amr say: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Convey from me, even if it is [only] a single verse; and narrate from the Children of Israel, for there is no harm in that; but whoever deliberately lies about me, let him take his seat in the Fire."
