Al-Walid ibn al-Qasim ibn al-Walid narrated to us: I heard my father mentioning it from Abu al-Hajjaj from Abdullah ibn Amr who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Three traits - if they are in a man, then he is the consummate hypocrite: when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he is entrusted, he betrays. And if one of them is in him, then a trait of hypocrisy is in him until he abandons it."
