Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us: Ma'mar informed us from Matar from Abdullah ibn Buraydah who said: Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad doubted about the Hawd (Pool/Basin). Abu Sabrah, a companion of Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad, said to him: "When your father went as a delegate to Mu'awiyah, I went with him and I met Abdullah ibn Amr. He narrated to me directly - from his mouth to mine - a hadith he heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He dictated it to me and I wrote it down." He said: "I swear an oath upon you to ride this horse hard until you bring me the document." So I rode the horse and galloped it until it sweated, and I brought him the document. In it was: Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As narrated to me that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: "Indeed Allah hates obscenity and indecency. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the Hour will not come until the trustworthy one is betrayed and the treacherous one is trusted, until obscenity, indecency, severing of kinship ties, and bad neighborliness prevail. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the likeness of the believer is that of a piece of gold - its owner blows on it but it neither changes nor diminishes. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the likeness of the believer is that of a bee - it eats good, produces good, and when it lands, it neither breaks nor spoils." He also said: "Indeed I have a Pool (Hawd), the distance between its two sides is like the distance between Aylah and Makkah - or he said: Sana'a and Madinah. In it are pitchers like the stars. It is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. Whoever drinks from it will never be thirsty again." Abu Sabrah said: Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad took the document and I was distressed about it. I met Yahya ibn Ya'mar and complained to him about that. He said: "By Allah, I have it memorized better than I have memorized a surah of the Quran." And he narrated it to me exactly as it was in the document.
