Abdur-Razzaq told us, Sufyan informed us, from Abu Ishaq, from an-Najrani, from Ibn Umar, who said: A man bought palm trees from another man, but they produced nothing that year. So the two of them came together and disputed before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On what grounds do you consider his money lawful? Return his money to him, and do not sell dates in advance on palm trees until their soundness becomes apparent. I asked Masruq what its soundness meant, and he said: When it turns red or yellow.
