حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ زَيْدٍ الْعَمِّيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ نِسَاءَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَأَلْنَهُ عَنْ الذَّيْلِ فَقَالَ اجْعَلْنَهُ شِبْرًا فَقُلْنَ إِنَّ شِبْرًا لَا يَسْتُرُ مِنْ عَوْرَةٍ فَقَالَ اجْعَلْنَهُ ذِرَاعًا فَكَانَتْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ إِذَا أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَتَّخِذَ دِرْعًا أَرْخَتْ ذِرَاعًا فَجَعَلَتْهُ ذَيْلًا.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Hajjaj told us, Sharik informed us, from Mutarrif, from Zayd al-Ammi, from Abu al-Siddiq al-Naji, from Ibn Umar: that the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked him about the trailing hem of a garment, and he said, "Make it a hand-span." They said, "A hand-span does not cover the private parts." He said, "Then make it a forearm's length." So whenever one of them wanted to make a dress, she would let down a forearm's length and make it the trailing hem.
