Waki' narrated to us, from Isra'il, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Najrani, from Ibn 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that two men made a transaction in the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, over palm trees before the fruit had appeared, and it did not produce anything. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'On what basis would you consume his wealth?' And he forbade the sale of fruit until its ripeness becomes evident.
