حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ حَفْصٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَنَّهُ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَصَلَّى الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى طِنْفِسَةٍ فَرَأَى نَاسًا يُسَبِّحُونَ بَعْدَهَا فَقَالَ مَا يَصْنَعُ هَؤُلَاءِ قُلْتُ يُسَبِّحُونَ قَالَ لَوْ كُنْتُ مُصَلِّيًا قَبْلَهَا أَوْ بَعْدَهَا لَأَتْمَمْتُهَا صَحِبْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى قُبِضَ فَكَانَ لَا يَزِيدُ عَلَى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ حَتَّى قُبِضَ فَكَانَ لَا يَزِيدُ عَلَيْهِمَا وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ كَذَلِكَ.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Yahya narrated to us, from 'Isa ibn Hafs - my father narrated to me - who said: I was with Ibn 'Umar on a journey. He prayed the noon and afternoon prayers, two rak'ahs each, then he got up and sat on a cushion, and saw people performing extra voluntary prayers after it. He said: 'What are these people doing?' I said: 'They are performing voluntary prayers.' He said: 'If I were to pray voluntary prayers before or after the obligatory prayer, I would have completed the obligatory prayer in full. I accompanied the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, until he passed away, and he never exceeded two rak'ahs; and Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, until he passed away, and he never exceeded them; and 'Umar and 'Uthman likewise.'
