Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr - that is, Abu Ahmad az-Zubayri - told us, Abd al-Aziz - that is, Ibn Abi Rawwad - told us, from Nafi', from Ibn Umar, who said: A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and asked him about the night prayer. He said, "The night prayer is two by two; you give the salutation after every two rak'ahs. When you fear the approach of dawn, pray one rak'ah, which will make witr for what preceded it."
