حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ صَحِبْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا حَدِيثًا كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأُتِيَ بِجُمَّارَةٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ مِنْ الشَّجَرِ شَجَرَةً مَثَلُهَا كَمَثَلِ الرَّجُلِ الْمُسْلِمِ فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَقُولَ هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا أَنَا أَصْغَرُ الْقَوْمِ فَسَكَتُّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Sufyan narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, who said: I accompanied Ibn 'Umar to Madinah, and I never heard him narrate from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, except one hadith: We were with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and a palm-heart was brought, and he said: "Among the trees there is a tree whose likeness is that of the Muslim man." I wanted to say it was the date-palm, but I looked and saw I was the youngest of the people, so I kept silent. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is the date-palm."
