Abu Mu’awiyah told us: al-A’mash told us, from Shaqiq, from Abdullah, who said: "Take care of these mushafs (copies of the Qur’an)" — and sometimes he said "the Qur’an" — "for it slips away from the hearts of men faster than cattle slip their hobbles." He said: And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Let none of you say, ‘I have forgotten such-and-such a verse’; rather, he has been made to forget it."
