حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَرْجِسَ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ الْأُصَيْلِعَ يَعْنِي عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يُقَبِّلُ الْحَجَرَ وَيَقُولُ أَمَا إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ حَجَرٌ وَلَكِنْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَبِّلُكَ.

It was narrated that `Abdullah bin Sarjis said: I saw the bald one - meaning `Hadrat Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him)-kissing the Black Stone and saying. I know that you are only a stone, but I saw the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) kiss you
