حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ قَالَتْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْمِي جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ مِنْ بَطْنِ الْوَادِي وَهُوَ يَقُولُ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ لَا يَقْتُلَنَّ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا وَإِذَا رَمَيْتُمْ الْجِمَارَ فَارْمُوا بِمِثْلِ حَصَى الْخَذْفِ قَالَتْ فَرَمَى سَبْعًا ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَلَمْ يَقِفْ قَالَتْ وَخَلْفَهُ رَجُلٌ يَسْتُرُهُ مِنْ النَّاسِ فَسَأَلْتُ عَنْهُ فَقَالُوا هُوَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ.

Affan narrated to us: Abu Awanah narrated to us: Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad narrated to us, from Sulayman ibn Amr ibn al-Ahwas, from his mother, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, throwing at Jamrat al-Aqabah on the Day of Sacrifice from the bottom of the valley, saying, "O people, let not some of you kill others; and when you throw the pebbles, throw with pebbles the size of a small pea for throwing." She said: He threw seven pebbles, then left without stopping. She said: And behind him was a man shielding him from the people, so I asked about him, and they said he was al-Fadl ibn Abbas.
