حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْمُصْطَلِقِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَخِي زَيْنَبَ امْرَأَةِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ قَالَتْ خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ تَصَدَّقْنَ وَلَوْ مِنْ حُلِيِّكُنَّ فَإِنَّكُنَّ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ جَهَنَّمَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَتْ وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ رَجُلًا خَفِيفَ ذَاتِ الْيَدِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ سَلْ لِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُجْزِئُ عَنِّي مِنْ الصَّدَقَةِ النَّفَقَةُ عَلَى زَوْجِي وَأَيْتَامٍ فِي حِجْرِي قَالَتْ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أُلْقِيَتْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَهَابَةُ فَقَالَ اذْهَبِي أَنْتِ فَاسْأَلِيهِ قَالَتْ فَانْطَلَقْتُ فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى بَابِهِ فَإِذَا عَلَيْهِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ اسْمُهَا زَيْنَبُ حَاجَتِي حَاجَتُهَا قَالَتْ فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا بِلَالٌ قَالَتْ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ سَلْ لَنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُجْزِئُ عَنَّا مِنْ الصَّدَقَةِ النَّفَقَةُ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِنَا وَأَيْتَامٍ فِي حُجُورِنَا قَالَتْ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ بِلَالٌ فَقَالَ عَلَى الْبَابِ زَيْنَبُ فَقَالَ أَيُّ الزَّيَانِبِ قَالَ فَقَالَ زَيْنَبُ امْرَأَةُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَزَيْنَبُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ تَسْأَلَانِكَ عَنْ النَّفَقَةِ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمَا وَأَيْتَامٍ فِي حُجُورِهِمَا أَيُجْزِئُ ذَلِكَ عَنْهُمَا مِنْ الصَّدَقَةِ قَالَتْ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا فَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَهُمَا أَجْرَانِ أَجْرُ الْقَرَابَةِ وَأَجْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ.

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us: al-A'mash narrated to us, from Shaqiq, from 'Amr ibn al-Harith ibn al-Mustaliq, from the nephew of Zaynab, wife of 'Abdullah, from Zaynab, she said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, addressed us and said: O assembly of women, give charity even if from your jewelry, for you are the majority of the people of Hell on the Day of Resurrection. She said: 'Abdullah was a man of limited means, so I said to him: Ask the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on my behalf whether it suffices me as charity to spend on my husband and orphans in my care. She said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had been invested with such awe that he said: You go and ask him yourself. She said: So I went and reached his door, and there was a woman of the Ansar named Zaynab at the door, having the same need as mine. She said: Bilal came out to us, so we said to him: Ask the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on our behalf whether it suffices us as charity to spend on our husbands and orphans in our care. She said: So Bilal went in to him and said: At the door is Zaynab. He said: Which of the Zaynabs? He said: Zaynab, wife of 'Abdullah, and Zaynab, a woman of the Ansar, asking you about spending on their husbands and orphans in their care - does that suffice them as charity? She said: So he came out to us and said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to them: They will have two rewards - the reward of kinship and the reward of charity.
