حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُسَيْنٍ قَالَ كَانَ يَوْمٌ لِأَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ يَلْعَبُونَ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذِ ابْنِ عَفْرَاءَ فَقَالَتْ دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَعَدَ عَلَى مَوْضِعَ فِرَاشِي هَذَا وَعِنْدِي جَارِيَتَانِ تَنْدُبَانِ آبَائِي الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ تَضْرِبَانِ بِالدُّفُوفِ وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ مَرَّةً بِالدُّفِّ فَقَالَتَا فِيمَا تَقُولَانِ وَفِينَا نَبِيٌّ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَكُونُ فِي غَدٍ فَقَالَ أَمَّا هَذَا فَلَا تَقُولَاهُ.

'Affan narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, he said: Abu Husayn narrated to us, he said: There was a day when the people of Madinah were playing, so I entered upon al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh ibn 'Afra', and she said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, entered upon me and sat in the place of this bedding of mine, while I had two young girls lamenting my fathers who had been killed on the day of Badr, beating tambourines - and 'Affan said once: a tambourine - until they said among what they were saying: 'And among us is a Prophet who knows what will happen tomorrow.' He said: As for this, do not say it.
