Rawh ibn Ubadah told us: Ibn Awn told us, from Nafi', from Ibn Umar, who said: I met Ibn Sayyad twice. The first time I met him, some of his companions were with him. I said to some of them, "I adjure you by Allah, if I ask you something, will you tell me the truth?" They said, "Yes." I said, "Do you tell me he is him?" They said, "No." I said, "You are lying! By Allah, one of you told me - and he was, at the time, the least of you in wealth and children - that he would not die until he became the greatest of you in wealth and children, and he is indeed so today." He said: So they told us, and then I left him. Then I met him again another time, and his eye had changed. I said, "When did your eye become as I see it?" He said, "I do not know." I said, "How can you not know, when it is in your own head?" He said, "What do you want from me, O Ibn Umar? If Allah, Exalted is He, wills to create it from this staff of yours, He will create it." He said: Some of my companions claimed that I struck him with a stick I had until it broke, but as for me, by Allah, I was not aware of it. He said: So I went in to his sister Hafsah and told her, and she said, "What do you want with him? Do you not know that he" - meaning the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him - "said: His first appearance before the people will be from a fit of anger that seizes him?"
