Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Muhammad ibn Muslim al-Zuhri and Hisham ibn Urwa ibn al-Zubayr, both of them narrated to me, from Urwa ibn al-Zubayr, from Aisha, who said: Barira was owned by a slave (i.e., married to a slave), then she was freed, and the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, gave her the choice regarding her marriage (whether to remain with her husband or not).
