Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Hisham ibn Urwa narrated to me, from his father, from Aisha, wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: Khuwayla bint Hakim ibn Umayya ibn Haritha ibn al-Awqas al-Sulamiyya entered upon me - she was married to Uthman ibn Maz'un. She said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, noticed the shabbiness of her appearance, and said to me, "O Aisha, how shabby is the appearance of Khuwayla!" She said: I said, "O Messenger of God, a woman with no husband who fasts by day and stands in prayer by night - she is like one who has no husband, so she has neglected herself and let herself go." She said: So the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, sent for Uthman ibn Maz'un, and he came to him, and he said, "O Uthman, do you dislike my way (sunna)?" He said, "No, by God, O Messenger of God, but I seek your way." He said, "I sleep and I pray, I fast and I break my fast, and I marry women. So fear God, O Uthman, for your family has a right over you, your guest has a right over you, and your own self has a right over you. So fast and break your fast, pray and sleep."
