Isma'il ibn Umar told us, he said: Yunus told us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Aswad ibn Yazid, who said: I said to Aisha, Mother of the Believers, "At what hour do you pray witr? Perhaps..." She said, "I do not pray witr until they give the call to prayer, and they do not give the call to prayer until dawn breaks." She said: And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had two callers to prayer: Bilal and Amr ibn Umm Maktum. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "When Amr calls the adhan, eat and drink, for he is a man who is blind; but when Bilal calls the adhan, withhold your hands, for Bilal does not call the adhan" - thus he said - "until dawn comes."
