Abd al-Rahman told us, from Sufyan, from Abu Ishaq, from Amr ibn Ghalib: that Aisha said to al-Ashtar, "Are you the one who wanted to kill my sister's son?" He said, "I was indeed eager to kill him, and he was eager to kill me." She said, "Did you not know what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'It is not lawful to shed the blood of a man except a man who apostatizes or abandons Islam, or commits adultery after having been married, or kills a soul without just cause'?"
