Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us, Kahmas and Yazid told us, Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Muqri' said, from Kahmas, he said: I heard Abdullah ibn Shaqiq say: I said to Aishah: "Did the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, pray the mid-morning prayer?" She said: "No, unless he came from a journey." I said: "Did he pray sitting?" She said: "After the people had worn him down with age." I said: "Did he recite a long surah?" She said: "The short surahs of the last portion of the Qur'an." I said: "Did he fast a whole month?" She said: "I never knew him to fast a whole month except Ramadan, nor do I know him to have broken his fast a whole month, until he would fast some of it, until he passed on." Yazid said: "He would combine dates in fasting," and Abu Abd al-Rahman said likewise.
