Abu al-Nadr narrated to us: Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from Yahya -- that is, Ibn Abi Kathir -- from Abu Hafsah, freedman of Aisha, that Aisha informed him: When the sun was eclipsed in the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, he performed ablution and gave orders, and it was announced that prayer was to be held in congregation. He stood and prolonged the standing in his prayer -- he said: I think he recited Surat al-Baqarah -- then he bowed and prolonged the bowing, then said 'Allah hears whoever praises Him,' then stood again as long as he had stood, without prostrating, then bowed and then prostrated, then stood and did as he had done, then bowed twice within one prostration-cycle, then sat, and the sun was uncovered.
