Husayn ibn Ali narrated to us, from Za'idah, from Layth, from Mujahid, from Aisha, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When the sins of a servant increase and he has no deed to expiate them, Allah, Mighty and Sublime, afflicts him with sorrow in order to expiate them for him.
