Yahya ibn Ghaylan narrated to us: al-Mufaddal narrated to us: Yahya ibn Ayyub narrated to me, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Harmalah al-Aslami, from Abdullah ibn Niyar al-Aslami, from Urwah, from A'ishah, who said: "Umm Sunbulah presented milk as a gift to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, but she did not find him, so I said to her: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, has forbidden eating the food of the Bedouins.' Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and Abu Bakr entered, and he said: 'What is this with you, O Umm Sunbulah?' She said: 'Milk I have brought as a gift for you, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Pour it, Umm Sunbulah.' So she poured, and he said: 'Give it to Abu Bakr.' She did so. Then he said: 'Pour, Umm Sunbulah,' so she poured and gave it to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he drank." A'ishah said: "And while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was drinking the milk - and how cooling it was to the liver! - [I said]: 'O Messenger of Allah, I was told that you had forbidden the food of the Bedouins.' He said: 'O A'ishah, they are not [true] Bedouins; they are the people of our countryside and we are the people of their town; when they are called, they respond - so they are not Bedouins.'"
