Abu Sa'id told us: al-Qasim ibn al-Fadl al-Huddani told us: I heard Muhammad ibn Ziyad say: I heard Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr say: A'ishah, Mother of the Believers, told me, saying: while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was sleeping, he laughed in his sleep, then woke up. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what made you laugh?" He said: "Some people of my nation will head for this House intending a man of Quraysh who has sought refuge in the Sacred Precinct; but when they reach al-Bayda', they will be swallowed up by the earth, though their origins and destinations are various - Allah will raise them up according to their intentions." I said: "How will Allah, Mighty and Majestic, raise them up according to their intentions when their origins and destinations are so various?" He said: "The road brings them together - among them is the one who goes willingly with insight, the traveler passing by, and the one who was coerced; they will all perish in one single destruction, yet they will be raised up in various different states."
