حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بُكَيْرُ بْنُ الْأَشَجِّ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ قَاصَّ مَسْلَمَةَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عَوْفَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا يَقُصُّ إِلَّا أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ.

Hasan b. Musa told us, saying: Ibn Lahi'ah told us, saying: Bukayr b. al-Ashajj told us, from Ya'qub b. Abdullah, that Abdullah b. Yazid, the preacher of Maslamah, told him, that Awf b. Malik told him: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say, "None should preach except a commander, one who is commanded, or one who is conceited."
