حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي مِنْ كِتَابِهِ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا رَبَاحُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ فَوَجَدْتُهُ طَيِّبَ النَّفْسِ فَقُلْتُ لَأَغْتَنِمَنَّ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا الطُّفَيْلِ النَّفَرُ الَّذِينَ لَعَنَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ بَيْنِهِمْ مَنْ هُمْ فَهَمَّ أَنْ يُخْبِرَنِي بِهِمْ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ امْرَأَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ مَهْ يَا أَبَا الطُّفَيْلِ أَمَا بَلَغَكَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ فَأَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ مِنْ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ دَعَوْتُ عَلَيْهِ دَعْوَةً فَاجْعَلْهَا لَهُ زَكَاةً وَرَحْمَةً.

'Abdullah narrated to us, my father told me from his book, Ibrahim ibn Khalid narrated to us, Rabah ibn Zayd narrated to us, 'Umar ibn Habib narrated to me from 'Abdullah ibn 'Uthman ibn Khuthaym who said: I went in to see Abu al-Tufayl and found him in good spirits, so I said [to myself], "I will surely take advantage of this from him," and I said, "O Abu al-Tufayl, the group whom the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed -- who were they?" He was about to tell me about them, when a black woman said to him, "Stop, O Abu al-Tufayl! Has it not reached you that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'O God, I am only a human being; so whichever servant among the believers I have invoked a curse upon, make it for him a purification and a mercy'?"
