Yahya ibn Ghaylan narrated to us, Rishdin narrated to us, Amr ibn al-Harith informed me, from Bukayr, from Abu Ishaq, a freedman of the Banu Hashim, who narrated to them: that they mentioned one day the vessels in which nabidh could be steeped, and they disputed about the gourd vessel. Abu Ayyub al-Ansari passed by them, so they sent a man to him, and he said: O Abu Ayyub, is the gourd used for steeping nabidh? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbid every pitch-lined vessel for steeping nabidh. So they put the question of the gourd to him again, and Abu Ayyub gave the same answer as before.
