It was narrated to us by Muhammad ibn Adi, from Ibn Awn, from Muhammad, who said: Jundub said: On the day of al-Jara'ah, and a man was present, he said: "By Allah, blood will surely be shed today." The man said: "No, by Allah!" He said: "Why did you not say, 'Yes, by Allah'?" He said: "No, by Allah, it is indeed a hadith of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that he narrated to me." He said: I said, "By Allah, I have found you to be an evil companion this day — you hear me swearing, and though you heard this from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, you do not forbid me." He said: Then I said, "What business do I have with anger?" He said: So I put aside anger and turned to question him, and behold, the man was Hudhayfah.
