حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَحَدِ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَتَأْمُرُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَلَتَنْهَوُنَّ عَنْ الْمُنْكَرِ أَوْ لَيَبْعَثَنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ قَوْمًا ثُمَّ تَدْعُونَهُ فَلَا يُسْتَجَابُ لَكُمْ.

Abu Sa'id, freedman of Banu Hashim, told us, Sulayman b. Bilal told us, from 'Amr b. Abi 'Amr, from 'Abdullah b. 'Abd al-Rahman, one of Banu 'Abd al-Ashhal, from Hudhayfah: that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, you shall enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, or God will indeed send upon you a people, then you will call upon Him but you will not be answered."
