Abu Tumaylah Yahya ibn Wadih told us: Husayn ibn Waqid informed us: Abdullah ibn Buraydah told me, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, returned from one of his military expeditions, and a black slave-girl came and said: O Messenger of Allah, I had vowed that if Allah, Most High, brought you back safely, I would beat the tambourine over your head. He said: If you made a vow, then do it; otherwise do not. She said: I did indeed make a vow. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sat down and she beat the tambourine.
